SUCCESSFUL 1st SUPPLIER’S DAY AT THE SIEMENS SI PLANT IN BERLIN

On the 13th of March 2024 the SIEMENS Smart Infrastructure (SI) Division staged their first Suppliers Day against the historical backdrop of one of Berlin’s oldest production facilities. Strongly embedded within Berlin’s city district, named after the Siemens founding father, the SI Division is developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art electric grid managing and monitoring devices with a strong focus on efficiency and resilience. In the context of the energy transition efforts worldwide, these smart-grid solutions (SIPROTEC) are most important for successfully transforming conventional power infrastructure to intelligent and sustainable energy systems.

The focus of the Suppliers Day was twofold. On the one hand, after a period of global supply chain disruptions the SI Division intended to recognize the immense efforts of its supply chain partners in keeping a smooth flow of goods and services despite a variety of global challenges. And on the other hand, the SI Division aimed at sending new impulses to the supply chain partners for setting up efficiency and productivity programs to mirror its own efforts and at lifting the whole supply chain ecosystem to the next level of the industry transformation process.

Within the framework of this ambitious goal, informative presentations by Mr. Michael Kläring (SI, Berlin Plant Manager) and prominent department heads were complemented by hands-on workshops with Siemens employees and their supply chain partners. With new ideas in mind, the event moved on to the impressive factory tours (W5 / Ro7), followed by the highlight of the Suppliers Day: The Supplier Award Ceremony.

RECOGNITION OF AMPER-PLASTIK’S HOLISTIC APPROCH TO QUALITY MANAGEMENT

With three award categories: “Sustainability“, “Logistics“ and “Quality“ for best supplier, the managing director of Amper-Plastik, Mr. Wolfgang Müller was pleased receiving the BestQuality award for the company and its employees. In his eulogy, the SI Division Head of Quality, Berlin explicitly praised the long-standing professional and holistic quality management approach of Amper-Plastik covering the whole product life cycle, starting with in-depth technical feasibility analyses to closely monitored manufacturing processes resulting in the delivery of highest quality products.

With the award highlighting the almost flawless quality history of Amper-Plastik, it deserves being called an outstanding milestone in the long-lasting  partnership of bothenterprises, established in the year 1966. The award is also understood as an additional push for the common goal of developing new smart-infrastructure devices, cutting-edge in terms of efficient and sustainable solutions.
